Since our founding in 1998, CyberAgent has been a growing Internet-based business, holding to a vision of “creating the 21st century's leading company.” Our goal is to contribute to the betterment of society through our businesses, our unique internal systems, and our management resources.
Investing in Our People
The Internet is a market that changes dramatically, demanding the ability to respond to change. We believe a key to success in this business is to have people who can adapt to sudden change swiftly and with flexibility. This isn't an industry that requires major capital investment in factories or other facilities. Rather, the most important management resource is people, and we are actively engaged in the hiring, training, and motivation of our people.
Fostering the Next Generation of IT Talent
Established in May 2013, CA Tech Kids Inc. operates programming education geared towards elementary school children with the aim of fostering and producing the IT talent needed to boost Japan's international competitiveness and secure the mid-to-long term growth of domestic industries.
To give as many children as possible the opportunity to gain exposure to programming, CA Tech Kids offers classroom-based programming classes as well as online learning material to ensure equal opportunities to children regardless of where they live.
In 2018, CA Tech Kids organized an elementary school student programming contest that involved the entire IT industry in an effort aimed at fostering the skills of talented children who have advanced IT skills.
Even before programming classes become compulsory in elementary schools from 2020, the company has been ahead of the curve by collaborating with local governments and elementary schools to hold outreach programming classes as well as training for teachers. CA Tech Kids is also actively involved in the promotion and expansion of programming education in public education, including policy recommendations to the national government and central ministries
A hybrid entertainment of TV and video : The New Information Infrastructure
In April 2016, we launched "ABEMA", a hybrid entertainment of TV and video . Here, users can watch the latest news and other information for free over their smartphones. "ABEMA" also serves as a new information platform in the era of the Internet. Through our services, smartphone users have real-time, 24-hour access to emergency information in the event of an earthquake or disaster.
In recognizing as important management issues, the improvement of integrity and transparency in management, and strengthening of corporate governance, CyberAgent migrated to a 'company with audit and supervisory committee' format in 2017. Under this format, three Independent Outside Directors with extensive understanding of the company's culture and corporate values serve to provide advice on business management and other matters based on their abundant experience, and to also audit and supervise various aspects of the Directors' business execution.
Since 2008, CyberAgent had implemented a director rotation system called "CA8" (a unique system in which the number of directors was set principally to eight people and two members were replaced every two years). However, since certain goals had already been attained, it was decided to discontinue this system to focus efforts on establishing a system to further expand business. In order to respond to an ever-diversifying business portfolio, since October 2018 the company has increased the number of directors for a certain period, and continues to focus efforts on further strengthening and perfecting its management structure.
