Media & IP Business

In the internet industry, we saw the media business as a highly profitable business model and launched Ameba in 2004, which has since become Japan's largest blogging service. Since 2016, we have been investing in ABEMA, a new TV for the future.
Operating a socially influential medium generates synergies with the advertising business, such as advertising sales of ABEMA, and with the gaming business, such as streaming anime on ABEMA, which will boost the group's overall profitability.

5-Year Results

Since ABEMA's launch in April 2016, we have aggressively invested in content production and acquisition, which has increased the medium’s presence. Its viewership of popular sports, anime, news, and original programs has been strong. The number of weekly active users exceeded 30 million in Sept. 2024.
In addition to ABEMA's advertising and in-app purchase revenues, we have expanded into peripheral businesses and achieved a high revenue growth rate. OP has been improved since FY 2020 at the bottom, and in FY 2024, the quarterly result turned positive for the first time in eight years. It aims to contribute to the full-year profits by continuing to increase revenue.

ABEMA aspires to be the TV for the future with free live streaming, simultaneous feeds, news coverage, and convenience, setting it apart from the crowd of competing video streaming services. It offers around 25 channels and is available for free 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The unique advantages of our internet services, with the ability to dynamically structure and program the channel to include news during disasters and press conferences of international interest, have evolved into an original service that plays an essential role in the social infrastructure.

Based on our "Technology-led CyberAgent" vision, our technological advantages have been cultivated through aggressive investment in technological innovation, including technology research and the hiring and training of engineering talent, allowing us to develop products with speed while maintaining a high level of quality, and they have become the foundation of our competitiveness.
ABEMA reached a record high number of weekly active users (WAU) and generated buzz during the FIFA World Cup in November 2022 with its distinctive viewing experience which includes multi-angle video streaming. By maintaining stable streaming even with a record-breaking number of simultaneous connections in Japan, this event proved ABEMA’s technological capabilities.

As demand for video streaming services rose during the COVID-19 pandemic, there was fierce competition for quality. In response, we have focused efforts on producing original works with the goal of creating world-class content of the highest quality.
BABEL LABEL, our consolidated subsidiary, has formed a strategic partnership with Netflix to foster world-class creative production advantages and produce high-quality video content, and we are committed to continuing to create top-quality content by leveraging the advantages of our unique approach to cultural shifts and trends.

Point4Creation of new business and IPs

Since ABEMA's inception in 2016, we have worked to expand the development of its peripheral businesses. WINTICKET, one of these peripheral businesses, was a later-developed service in the market. Despite this, WINTICKET and ABEMA achieved a high level of affinity, and WINTICKET now holds the top share in online cycle race betting.
We also began offering ABEMA PPV, which provides pay-per-view viewing of live concerts and fighting events developed in-house, and in June 2023, Nelke Planning Co., Ltd., a 2.5-dimensional musical stage production company, was integrated as a consolidated group company.Nitroplus, Co., Ltd. joined the CyberAgent group in July 2024, which creates high-quality content in various genres including games, animation, novels, illustrations, and most notably Touken Ranbu.

The CyberAgent Group has many businesses that help IP monetization, such as the game and advertising businesses, and can provide a variety of services, including income from IP-to-game adaptation, distribution fees, merchandising, and entertainment events. By maximizing group synergies around ABEMA, we aim to create a highly profitable business model.

WINTICKET

Launched in 2019, WINTICKET is an online sports betting service that allows users to bet on public sports, payout, and watch high-quality live streaming video on their smartphones and computers. By providing a "Bicycle and Motorcycle Racing Channel" on ABEMA that users have a high affinity for, implementing an AI-based forecasting function, and utilizing our marketing capabilities, this service boasts the top share in online bicycle race betting, despite being a latecomer in the market.
