Research on the Admissions Process of Daycare Centers

CyberAgent and the University of Tokyo Market Design Center (UTMD) have been working with local governments to launch market design-driven demonstration experiments aimed at "better coordinating the use of daycare centers," one of our joint research themes.

As the percentage of women in the workforce increases, the number of children awaiting admission to daycare and the efficiency of the selection process have become major issues.

By researching the admissions process for daycare centers, we aim to improve the algorithm for coordinating daycare use and digitalize related procedures through a combination of improvements in admission rules, demonstration experiments to provide easy-to-understand information, and the development of a selection system for daycare center admissions.

CyberAgent and UTMD believe that coordination of daycare use, which appropriately matches users to daycare centers based on their preferences, is a highly effective approach. We also believe that improving the algorithm used to coordinate daycare use will yield several benefits, including a significant reduction in the number of children on waiting lists and the ability to enroll in the daycare of their choice.

As part of our joint research, we have begun a demonstration experiment in Shibuya Ward and Tama City in Tokyo, as well as Koriyama City in Fukushima Prefecture, with the goal of improving the algorithm for coordinating daycare use and digitalizing related procedures.

Example of Initiatives

  • Improvement of rules for admission to daycare centers
  • Demonstration experiments on providing daycare information
  • Demonstration experiments on the daycare admission system

By leveraging our strengths in digital marketing and operations, our extensive knowledge of AI and blockchain technologies, and our collaborations with industry and academia, we support the digital transformation (DX) of businesses, governments and municipalities, enabling them to deliver relevant and accurate information to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.
