ABEMA

ABEMA, in partnership with LIVE SPORTS MEDIA Co., Ltd. (the operating company of SPOTV NOW spotvnow.jp), will broadcast all 324 official Major League Baseball (MLB) games live starting on Friday, April 8, JST.

ABEMA has delivered live broadcasts of various sports, from minor to major, since its launch in 2016, and recently announced that it will offer free live broadcasts of all matches at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Beginning in July 2021, ABEMA broadcast all 166 games in the MLB2021 regular season live, sparking the enthusiasm and attention of many baseball fans and resulting in ABEMA's highest weekly viewership in 2021.
As per this announcement, ABEMA will broadcast the 2022 season live every day from the opening game, which starts on April 8 (JST). ABEMA will broadcast all 324 official regular season games live, with particular focus on teams with Japanese players such as the Los Angeles Angels where Shohei Ohtani was MVP in 2021, the Chicago Cubs where Seiya Suzuki will play in MLB for the first time this year, the Pittsburgh Pirates where Yoshitomo Tsutsugo scored great home runs in 2021, and the Toronto Blue Jays where Yusei Kikuchi is expected to be even more active in his new home. Of the 324 games, 234 will be broadcast live for free (*1), and 90 matches played early in the morning will be broadcast live on the paid plan “ABEMA Premium”. ABEMA Premium will also broadcast games, highlights, and more, so you can enjoy a variety of MLB games whenever you want, including fights for home runs that are expected to be fierce. (*2)

In addition, all 324 games will feature live information and commentary in Japanese, and ABEMA is planning special commentary by former major league stars for weekend games. ABEMA will also broadcast the Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Angels game on Sunday, April 3, as well as four free spring training games before the start of the regular season. Further, in order to bring MLB to a wider audience, ABEMA will partner with LIVE SPORTS MEDIA Co., Ltd. (the operating company of SPOTV now spotvnow.jp) to deliver a weekly highlights program featuring major guests that will provide ABEMA viewers with a unique way to enjoy MLB.

With ABEMA, you can enjoy high-quality video on a variety of devices, including smartphones, PC, tablets, Nintendo Switch, and TV. The service features a comments function that lets you cheer on your team as you watch, and you can catch up on games that you couldn't see in real-time as many times as you like. Additionally, the “Play from Start ” feature allows you to watch games from the beginning even after they have started, and you can read all comments posted during a game even after the broadcast. (*3) Going forward, ABEMA will continue to broadcast various games and programs to bring the appeal of sports, including baseball, to as many people as possible. Check out all the best plays that the players create on ABEMA.
