“AbemaTV” and “niconico” Forms a Partnership
Streaming the Programs of “AbemaTV” via “niconico Live” and “niconico Channel”
“AbemaTV,” a charge-free Internet TV station operated by AbemaTV, Inc., and “niconico,” a video-streaming service provided by DWANGO Co., Ltd., have formed a partnership, and the official channel of “AbemaTV” was established in “niconico” on Monday, April 1, 2019, to stream the programs of “AbemaTV,” mainly original content, one by one via “niconico Live” and “niconico Channel.”
When the programs of “AbemaTV” are distributed via “niconico,” customers can view them while posting their comments in the way unique to “niconico,” and watch programs in archives when they want.
At first, AbemaTV plans to stream its original serial dramas, reality shows, such as “You can’t fool me, Mr.Wolf,” which is outstandingly popular among female middle and high school students, and“Proxy War of Fighters,” a combat sports reality show which boasts the popularity among male viewers. Numerous programs including mah-jong and shogi will also be streamed via “niconico Live” and “niconico Channel” one after another.
“AbemaTV” and “niconico” aim to deliver attractive content to more users based on a variety of collaborative projects between the leading video-streaming services in Japan.

Description of “niconico”
“niconico” (formerly “niconico Douga,”) was launched as a video-sharing service in December 2006. It offers various services with the characteristic feature of allowing users to post comments which are overlaid directly onto the video, such as “niconico Live,” which broadcasts about 1,000 official programs live every month, and “niconico Channel,” a video platform for enterprises, groups, and general users.
