Boundary of Data (CO2 emissions)
In principle, the boundary of data is the company (CyberAgent, Inc.) and its 99 consolidated subsidiaries as of September 30, 2022. Consolidated subsidiaries and some offices are excluded if the impact is deemed negligible based on insignificant numbers of employees or office use. Also note that data that differs in scope from totaled items is listed separately.
- Scope 1
Scope 1 calculates CO2 emissions from the vehicle fuel used by employees at each location (when fuel costs are borne by the company).
Emissions are calculated by multiplying the amount of fuel consumed by the coefficient listed in the "Greenhouse Gas Emissions Accounting, Reporting, and Disclosure System" of the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures. Note that fuel consumption was previously categorized under Scope 3 Category 7 before FY2021. However, starting from FY2021, it has been reclassified as Scope 1 retroactively. Company cars, small-scale water heaters used in tenanted offices, and city gas used by small-scale retailers are excluded from Scope 1.
- Scope 2
Indirect emissions from using electricity and heat supplied by other companies in our offices and data centers have been calculated by referring to the "Emission Coefficients by Electric Power Company" and the "Greenhouse Gas Emissions Accounting, Reporting, and Disclosure System" of the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures. For locations in Japan, indirect emissions from using electricity are calculated using the national average coefficient for location-based values and the adjusted emission coefficient for each electric power company for market-based values. For locations overseas, calculations used both location-based and market-based calculations based on the country-specific coefficients provided in "IEA Emissions Factors (2022 edition)" published by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
- Scope 3
Category 1: Emissions are calculated by multiplying the cost of office supplies and event-related expenses by the emissions intensity value listed in the "Emission Coefficients Database for Corporate Value Chain Accounting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Ver.3.2." Although event-related expenses were not included in calculations prior to FY2021, due to the increase in the number and scale of events, they were retroactively included in calculations from FY2021 in order to calculate accurate values.
For public cloud services, the total CO2 emissions reported by each service provider are included in the calculations.
Category 3: Category 3 emissions are fuel and energy-related activities not included in Scope 1 and 2. They are calculated by multiplying the electricity and heat consumption by the respective emission intensities from the "Emission Coefficients Database for Corporate Value Chain Accounting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Ver.3.2."
Category 6: Category 6 emissions are calculated by multiplying the business travel expenses by the respective emission intensities from the "Emission Coefficients Database for Corporate Value Chain Accounting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Ver.3.2." 26 group companies (14% of the business travel expenses) are excluded from the calculation due to a lack of categorical data on modes of transportation. Note that business travel expenses include some uncategorizable accommodation expenses.
Category 7: Category 7 emissions are calculated by multiplying the employee commuting expenses by the respective emission intensities from the "Emission Coefficients Database for Corporate Value Chain Accounting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Ver.3.2."
To calculate more precise values, the values for Group companies that do not reflect telecommuting on the commuting expenses are retroactively calculated from FY2021, by multiplying with the attendance rate. 17 group companies (2% of the employee commuting expenses) are excluded from the calculation because categorized data by transport modes are unavailable.
Category 13: Category 13 emissions are calculated by multiplying the electricity consumption at rental properties acquired by a group company in FY2022 by the coefficient listed in the "Emission Coefficients by Electric Power Company" of the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures.
