Planning and production of original anime

CyberAgent had already launched a dedicated anime channel since the founding of ABEMA, and in 2017, we partnered with Cygames to establish the CA-Cygames Animation Fund, a fund specializing in the investment of anime IPs. We began our anime business by investing in the core anime productions of other companies and securing distribution and game adaptation rights.

In 2018, we launched our anime business with the participation of production talent with extensive backgrounds in both anime production planning and execution.
CyberAgent is currently spearheading the creation of new works, releasing a number of original anime x game IP projects, and pursuing the creation of new anime IPs, including anime adaptations of original comic books and novels. In partnership with group subsidiaries CyberZ and eStream, we are also expanding our anime business from multiple angles, including through licensing activities both in and outside Japan.

The Anime Business Unit's strengths lie in its ability to generate new streams of revenue by combining anime IPs with our core businesses of Games, Media, and Advertising. Our unique position as a company that has launched numerous new businesses has shaped us into an organization whose members are open-minded, eager to take on new challenges, and produce results with an eye toward upward scalability. Our goal is to develop new sources of income for our anime business while continuing to produce hit titles.

Based on the concept of "striving to be the best in entertainment," CygamesPictures, a subsidiary of Cygames, Inc., is engaged in the planning and production of anime without being bound by existing frameworks. CygamesPictures also plans and produces anime for some titles in collaboration with CyberAgent's Anime Business Unit.
