CyberAgent, Inc. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Susumu Fujita; TSE: 4751) today announced that it has acquired a majority stake in Real Gate Inc. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yutaka Iwamoto; “Real Gate”), a consolidated subsidiary of Transit General Office Inc. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Sadahiro Nakamura) involved in planning and managing creative offices. Through this acquisition, the CyberAgent Group will enter the real estate field.
Since its establishment in 2009, the real estate company Real Gate has been developing its flexible workplace business in central Tokyo, particularly in the Shibuya area, under the management philosophy of “adding value to old things, bringing creativity to real estate, and creating freedom in workstyles.” The company currently plans and manages 60 shared office buildings for startups and creators. Its unique approach is to take old buildings and fundamentally increase their value by reinforcing them against earthquakes, expanding them, and changing their use, and then transforming them into attractive properties by adding common areas such as lounges, meeting rooms, and sky terraces. Real Gate offers a full range of services from planning and advice to design, construction, support of leasing and management.
In recent years, demand for Real Gate's flexible workplaces has increased rapidly not only due to the advancement of workstyle reforms and the increase in the number of vacant buildings but also due to the conversion of hotels and serviced apartments into shared offices, the planning to combine residential homes and shared offices, and the increased demand for co-working emerged from the popularity of telework.
Against this backdrop, CyberAgent will acquire all of the shares of Real Gate held by Transit General Office Inc., making it a consolidated subsidiary and thus entering the real estate field as a group. CyberAgent will harness its technological capabilities and know-how in developing and operating services in the digital sector to promote DX in the real estate field. By combining creative real estate as promoted by Real Gate and IT, the company will contribute to the development of free workplaces and urban areas.
The impact of this transaction on CyberAgent's consolidated results of operations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2021, will be minimal.
