Comment from Yusuke Hidaka, Vice President of CyberAgent, Inc.
“CyberAgent Group entered into the feature phone gaming market in full force back in 2009. We switched gears to focus on the smartphone gaming market in 2011, and we are currently concentrating our efforts on the development of native apps. We have roughly 1,700 employees working in this department providing service for 42 game titles at the moment. We have grown into a powerful force in the domestic smartphone gaming industry thanks to the numerous titles such as Sengoku Enbu –KIZNA–, released through Sumzap, Inc., and GRANBLUE FANTASY, released by Cygames, Inc., that have managed to rank in at the top of the sales rankings for the App Store and Google Play. We hope to leverage our expertise in game development to create promising new titles that could only be possible through CyberAgent Group and LINE.”
Comment from Jun Masuda, Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer at LINE Corporation
“Since beginning service in November 2012, LINE GAME has released games developed in-house and in conjunction with third-party content providers to players through the LINE platform, establishing its identity and raising its profile as a gaming platform. The service has recently concentrated a greater share of its effort on expanding globally in order to transcend the domestic Japanese market and provide high quality gaming content to the entire world. All of us here at LINE are extremely excited by the opportunity to create a new business venture together with CyberAgent Group, which already has multiple subsidiaries engaged in content creation for the smartphone-based gaming market, each with their own unique focus in the industry. This is a giant step forward towards the increased global presence LINE GAME has been working for. We hope to leverage the strengths of the LINE platform to provide better games than ever to players around the world.”
