With “AmebaOwnd,” it is possible to produce a fashionable website as easily as writing a blog, just by selecting from over 100 kinds of templates and frames for a layout and uploading contents, including images and movies. Produced websites will be automatically made compatible with smartphone displays. With the function*1 to get linked with social media, including “Ameba Blog,” “Facebook,” and “twitter,” it is possible to put together your accounts of various social media in this service, and disseminate it as your own website. Furthermore, a wide array of functions, including access analysis*2, are available.
“AmebaOwnd” is expected to be used by celebrities, artists, and creators as well as general users as a hub for transmitting information and by firms and stores for their businesses, in a broad range of scenes according to the purpose of use. As the first case of utilization by firms, “Starbucks Coffee”, and “SHIMA” created its own sites, while many celebrities, including the creative director NIGO, the director Mari Natsuki, the actor Hiro Mizushima, the musicians Zeebra, MISHIA, and Gesu no Kiwami Otome, are opening their websites as new footholds for transmitting information.
In the questionnaire about social media targeted at 430 users of “Ameba,” one out of every four users answered that they use over 4 kinds of social media. This indicates that it is becoming common to use several kinds of social media. Outside Japan, an increasing number of individuals and firms utilize owned media integrating their social accounts to distribute their contents. In this trend, “Ameba” will release “AmebaOwnd” for developing the Japan’s largest owned media platform by utilizing the operation know-how and scale of our media, including “Ameba Blog.”
The functions of AmebaOwnd will be enriched so that anyone can not only produce a website, but also create smartphone application software and distribute charged contents. We aim to have 5 million sites opened by March 2016.
